Library Leaders' Books Launch
On World Book Day, Thursday 1 March, the Primary Library was delighted to receive a new collection of books specially chosen by the Primary Library Leaders and Primary Library Book Club members.
The Library Leaders group was formed in Term One of this school year to encourage Primary pupils to be more involved in the running of the Library. With the help of librarian Ms Vernon and volunteer Mr Marshall, they worked on two projects: helping to decorate and run library events for our Halloween celebrations; and surveying their fellow pupils about favourite books and authors that they would like to see more of on library shelves.
In December, a group of Library Leaders accompanied the Primary Library Book Club on a trip to our local Gramedia bookshop. They had a fun afternoon selecting new books based on the results of their student survey and returned to School having chosen 62 new publications to add to our collection.
Library staff were joined by some of the book choosers and friends of the Library for the official launch of this special collection on World Book Day - by the end of which, ALL new books on display had been borrowed!
