New Principal Visits

In late March, BSJ's Principal-Elect, Mr David Butcher, visited Jakarta for a week with his wife. In addition to orienting themselves with the city, Mr and Mrs Butcher met with students, parents and staff to learn more about the School, which Mr Butcher will begin to lead from 1 August.

Mr Butcher is British and joins us from the International School of The Hague, one of Europe's leading international schools. He has over 20 years of experience in international education (ten of those in leadership positions), having worked in British and international schools in South America, the Middle East and Europe.

Mr Butcher also serves on the IB Heads Council, an elected body of 12 school Heads from around the world that advises the Senior Leadership Team of the International Baccalaureate Organisation on policy and strategy. In his younger years, he was a professional cricketer, representing both Essex and Devon County Cricket Clubs in the UK.
