Primary School

I do hope the website gives you a flavour of what makes BSJ such a special place and a ‘bridge to the world’.

Welcome to the Primary School section of the British School Jakarta website.

The school is well established in Jakarta and has a long successful record of serving the expatriate community. The primary section now offers five forms in every year group from Year One to Year six. Within the Foundation Stage there are two sections, Foundation Stage One and Foundation Stage Two. The age range for each year group is as shown below along with the corresponding English year group.

The curriculum in the Primary School is based on the National Curriculum of England and taught through the thematic International Primary Curriculum. The IPC reflects the needs of the international and multi-cultural student body and capitalises on the unique opportunities provided by being located in Indonesia. Resources and facilities are exceptional and help to provide a stimulating and exciting environment that encourages children to fully engage in their learning. All classrooms are purpose built having shared open areas, art rooms and access to outdoor learning areas.

Apart from the classrooms, children have access to a wide range of specialist facilities such as a purpose built two storey primary library, computer suites, music studios, extensive outdoor areas for PE and swimming, gyms, modern foreign language classrooms and of course the BSJ World Theatre.

By browsing the website, you will quickly build up an impression of the wonderful facilities available to enhance your child’s educational experience whilst at BSJ. Of course, facilities and classrooms are important but it is the quality of the teachers and support staff that ensure children have the best possible opportunities. At BSJ we are fortunate to have a highly skilled, committed staff who will go that extra mile for the children. Teachers have recent and relevant experience from the UK and many have previously worked overseas. Finally, I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you at BSJ if you are currently in Jakarta, or am happy to respond to emails for those of you currently overseas.
