For the third consecutive year, the British School Jakarta (BSJ) community came together to support Pagelaran Sabang Merauke, a spectacular celebration of Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage through music, dance and theatre.

This year’s production, Hikayat Srikandi Nusantara, took audiences on a journey through stories of inspiring women from Indonesian folklore, bringing together traditional and contemporary elements in a large-scale performance at Indonesia Arena.

We were especially proud to see members of our own community taking part. BSJ graduates Zahara and Shera performed as an actress and harpist, respectively, while BSJ teachers Christine and Nino joined the production as a choir singer and clarinet player.

Around 50 members of the BSJ community, including staff, family, and Board of Executive, attended the performance to show their support and celebrate the incredible talent on stage.

We are proud to support and participate in such a wonderful celebration of Indonesian culture. Pagelaran Sabang Merauke provides a powerful platform for showcasing the richness, diversity and beauty of Indonesia’s cultural heritage, and it was a privilege to see members of the BSJ community contribute to and celebrate this remarkable event.
