BSJ Secondary Students Bring Suspense and Mystery to the Stage in The Crucible

Secondary students from British School Jakarta delivered a powerful and deeply engaging performance of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible at the Raffles Theatre on Thursday and Friday, 7–8 May 2026, captivating audiences of around 150 attendees each evening.
Set during the Salem witch trials of 1692, The Crucible explores themes of fear, integrity, hysteria, and justice. The production challenged students with emotionally intense scenes, complex character development, and lengthy dialogue,  all of which were handled with remarkable confidence and maturity.

The cast impressed audiences with their commanding stage presence and ability to bring Miller’s demanding script to life. Many students involved had previously performed in other school productions, while the show also introduced exciting new talents who shone brightly on stage.

“I am incredibly proud of the dedication, courage, and professionalism our students brought to this production. Their commitment, both onstage and behind the scenes, made The Crucible a truly memorable experience for everyone involved,” shared Mayar Hussein, the BSJ Secondary Theatre Teacher who led the student production.
Beyond the performances themselves, the production reflected exceptional teamwork between students and staff both onstage and behind the scenes. From lighting and sound to costumes, stage management, and set transitions, every element contributed to a polished and immersive theatrical experience.
