Year 11 students recently returned from their Learning Without Walls trip to Thailand, bringing back stories of adventure, cultural discovery and shared experiences that took their learning beyond the classroom.

Throughout the week, students embraced a tailored programme that challenged them both physically and personally. One of the standout moments for many was the opportunity to see elephants in the wild. During this trip, our students got to witness these animals in their natural habitat, providing a memorable reminder of Thailand’s rich biodiversity.

Students also explored a beautiful cave, climbing hundreds of steps to reach impressive rock formations and viewpoints. While the journey was demanding at times, the sense of achievement and the spectacular surroundings made the effort worthwhile.

Alongside these outdoor experiences, students spent time engaging with Thai culture through activities including traditional games, Thai cooking and Muay Thai. They also visited a local school, where they taught English and connected with local students, gaining valuable insight into a different educational and cultural context.

Reflecting on the week, Trip Leader Ms Anabel Ordonez shared, “Students embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and positivity. Whether they were exploring a cave, learning new skills, teaching in a local school or simply supporting one another through the challenges of the trip, they approached each experience with an open mind and a willingness to learn.”

The Learning Without Walls programme challenged students to embrace new experiences, connect with others and engage meaningfully with the local community and environment. In doing so, they developed skills, perspectives and memories that will stay with them long after the trip itself.
