BSJ Biathlon

BSJ’s Annual Biathlon took place on Sunday 17th November 2019. It was a gloriously sunny day and the Activities Department welcomed over 150 competitors who arrived ready to swim and run around our beautiful open campus.

A strong finish in the Open category

Sprint to the finish!

Athletes running their laps around our Rugby Field

Chasing the leader!

The morning was divided into 14 separate races that included an Open Age category, separate children’s age and gender categories, Team of Two races and also a Team of Four category. All competitors arrived early for a swim warm-up led by our experienced Swimming Department before arriving at the marshaling area to prepare for the start of their races. We saw some excellent swimmers, within the age ranges of just 4 years old and all the way to the over 50’s, who then climbed out of the swimming pool, adorned their trainers and went tearing off around our campus towards the finish balloon at the end of our Rugby fields. All competitors received a participation band and the winners received medals and our infamous fluffy dolphin!

Perhaps the highlight of our event is the race for the children from the YSDI Foundation (Yayasan Sindroma Down Indonesia) or previously known as ISDI (Ikatan Sindroma Down Indonesia). The students competed in their own race, supported by the BSJ Community to raise awareness of their Foundation.

All money raised by our Biathlon goes to this worthwhile Foundation and we are pleased to report that this year we raised Rp 86.353.716, and this will allow the continued subsidizing of students for the year 2020.
