Medical Department
The British School Jakarta’s Medical Department offers support and service to students, staff and school community to promote their health and well-being.
Our Medical Department team consists of a school doctor, six school nurses, an ambulance driver and a school catering adviser. We have two ambulances supporting our school medical team for emergency cases on premises or during school trips .
We have one Medical centre with six observation beds and one isolation room located between the Blue Court and Primary Hall (med centre pictures). We also have two other first aid posts with one observation bed at our Sports Centre and swimming pool area (SC and Spool first aid post pictures). In Medical Centre, nurses start their duties from 7.00AM to 4.00PM, in the Sports Centre first aid post, a nurse is on standby from 6.30AM to 4.30PM, while at the Swimming Pool first aid post, a nurse stands by from 5.30AM to 4.00PM.
The School Medical Team will administer first aid and provide health advice on the premises, as needed. The School Doctor should be consulted if there is any doubt about a child’s medical condition or ability to attend school. Students requiring care for injuries or sickness should report to the medical facilities where their condition will be assessed and they will be cared for accordingly. If a student becomes sick during school hours, the nurse will inform the parents to collect the child from school if thought advisable. The child will remain with the nurse in the medical room until collected by the parent. Please note that in this situation Students are not able to travel home on the school bus service. In an emergency, if the parents or the emergency contact cannot be reached, the child may be taken for medical treatment to the nearest hospital which is in Bintaro at the discretion of the Principal or appropriate Head of School.
