Wellbeing Curriculum
At the beginning of the Academic Year 2019-2020 BSJ introduced the wellbeing programme and a 30-minute lesson dedicated to this. This session is taken by the tutor and is prepared by the Year Leader. The basic principle behind the lessons is positive psychology and the curriculum that has been developed by the Institute of Positive Education working out of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia. The sessions seek to prepare students for the future by developing and using all the character strengths that make a successful adult. As well as the Positive Education Enhanced Curriculum the programme also draws on aspects of Personal, Social & Health Education, Philosophy for Children, MIT’s Compassionate Systems framework and the IB’s Approaches to Learning. All of this makes a varied, stimulating and highly adaptable programme that develops the skills that will make a difference in tomorrow’s world.
