Drama
In Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6), all students are taught a drama lesson once a week by a drama specialist. These lessons are designed to complement the children's learning in the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) while developing a foundation of expressive movement and drama techniques to develop their confidence and skills of collaboration, communication and creative thinking.
Shared overall aims across drama lessons are:
-
to enable children to use and understand basic drama skills and terminology
-
to develop their ability to tell stories both individually and collaboratively
-
to develop social skills of communication, negotiation and collaboration
-
to learn to think critically and problem-solve creatively
-
to enable the children to make links between the make-believe world and reality
-
to use drama to further develop their understanding of their IPC curriculum
Drama in Enrichment
Primary students also take part in the curriculum enhancement programme whereby they have a range of activities they can enter into over the year. Performing Arts options include activities such as Creative Dance, Drama, Set Design, the Year 4 Production and the Year 6 Production (which are rehearsed during the curriculum enrichment sessions).
