Physical Education

Physical Education (PE) at BSJ Primary starts in Kindergarten and Years 1 and 2 with a key focus on developing fine and gross motor skills through introduction to multi-sports, dance and gymnastics. Swimming is also a key focus for our younger children to develop water confidence and initial swimming skills. We have a dedicated swimming lesson each week with our team of qualified swim coaches alongside our normal PE lessons. In Years 3-6, we have 2 dedicated PE lessons a week for all classes. Dance, gymnastics and swimming are developed as part of a rotation of activities alongside sport within these lessons. This is complemented by the Enrichment programme and the Extra Curricular activities provided after the curriculum day. 

Physical Education is taught in a way that balances both cooperative and competitive elements and with a focus on developing sportsmanship as part of our assessment system. Through experimentation, repeated practice, evaluation and skill refinement, students learn a fundamental level of body control, tactical awareness, compositional ideas, and a basic understanding of the importance of fitness and health. Physical Education is delivered through activities that are progressive, challenging and enjoyable. They lead to achievement and success, which in turn promotes an enhanced sense of self-worth and confidence.

BSJ excels at sport, supported by its superb facilities and teaching staff, and competes both within Indonesia and beyond as part of various sporting groups; a highlight being the FOBISIA Games each year. Selection to a sports squad or team enables individuals to develop their interests and abilities whilst learning to work closely with others in a competitive environment. BSJ Primary competes in athletics, football, rugby, tennis, volleyball, basketball, swimming, t-ball and gymnastics to name but a few of the sports on offer.












In brief, Physical Education at BSJ offers opportunities for children to:
