Learning in Secondary
Learning in the secondary school is driven by the school’s mission: to inspire, challenge and nurture for excellence. The school seeks to ensure that the love of learning is lifelong and that students become internationally-minded citizens of the world with a strong sense of belonging, respect and social responsibility.
The Learner Profile of BSJ Students
We are committed to the development of the learner profile attributes. As such, successful learning at BSJ results, not only in academic excellence, but also in the development of the skills and qualities which will equip our students for learning beyond school.
Approaches To Learning at BSJ
At BSJ we know that successful learners must develop a set of skills or ‘approaches to learning’ which enable them to succeed academically and which enrich the school experience. The development and application of these skills through inspiring and challenging lessons ensures that students graduating from the secondary school can continue to flourish and reach their potential far beyond school. Students develop the ability to self-manage, to be organised and proactive. They learn to communicate effectively in writing, when speaking and when using digital media. Students learn the skills of research, including the traditional use of the library as well as efficient and effective online research methods. They learn to form and maintain positive social relationships and the importance of teamwork. Our students learn to reflect on their learning, to think critically and to share their thinking in innovative and creative ways.
