Celebrating Chuseok: A Joyful Korean Autumn Festival at BSJ

Chuseok Celebration

On Friday, 3 October 2025, the Primary Assembly at BSJ was filled with colour, joy, and cultural pride as we celebrated Chuseok, the Korean Autumn Festival.

More than 30 confident students took to the stage to share fascinating facts about this special tradition, helping their peers learn about the festival’s origins, customs, and spirit of gratitude. Our youngest learners then delighted everyone with a heart-warming performance of Ganggangsullae — a traditional Korean circle dance usually performed under the moonlight (in our case, beneath a glowing moon balloon!).

The celebration continued with a lively Chuseok quiz, testing what students had learned. Seven lucky winners received prizes generously donated by parents, adding an extra spark of excitement to the morning.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Year 1 parent, Mrs. Choi, for her creativity and dedication in planning, organising, and leading the assembly. Our sincere appreciation also goes to all the parents who supported their children behind the scenes.

Mrs. Green, Assistant Head of Primary, shared: “It was wonderful to see our students so engaged and proud to share their culture with the whole school. Celebrations like Chuseok help our children appreciate the beauty of diversity and strengthen the sense of belonging that makes BSJ such a special community.”

Events like this play an important role in nurturing social wellbeing at BSJ — encouraging empathy, curiosity, and connection among students while celebrating the many cultures that shape our school.
