Turning Compassion into Action: Project Dream Supports Make-A-Wish® Indonesia

At British School Jakarta (BSJ), we believe that meaningful learning extends beyond the classroom. Our students are encouraged to lead with empathy, take initiative, and make a positive difference in the world around them. In 2024, a group of passionate BSJ students did exactly that by launching Project Dream — the first teen-led initiative supporting Make-A-Wish Indonesia.

Project Dream began as a community project with a simple yet powerful idea: to turn creativity into impact. The team designed and sold beauty bundles using a tote bag of their own design. What started as a student-led fundraising effort quickly grew into a remarkable success, raising over Rp 600,000,000 for the foundation to date. Building on this momentum, the students launched their most recent initiative, DreamSplash, on 24 January 2026 at BSJ. DreamSplash was a swimming sponsorship event that brought together students, families, and staff in support of Make-A-Wish Indonesia. Participants challenged themselves to swim as many laps as possible, sponsored by friends and family who pledged donations in encouragement of their efforts.

The result was a powerful demonstration of community spirit. Together, the BSJ community raised Rp 131,729,860 — funds that will go directly towards granting wishes for critically ill children across Indonesia. These wishes create life-changing memories filled with hope and joy, offering strength and encouragement during some of the most difficult times in a child’s life.

Through their partnership with Make-A-Wish Indonesia, the students behind Project Dream have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of a wish. As teenagers themselves, supporting children around their own age has deepened their understanding of compassion and resilience. Project Dream looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Make-A-Wish Indonesia, turning compassion into action and expanding its impact. Their journey reflects the values we strive to nurture at BSJ: leadership, service, and a commitment to making a difference.
